January 16, 2021 by Richard Phillips Leave a Comment

Windows operating system has an inbuilt feature of the taskbar, which can be utilized to access many applications just by a click quickly. The Windows 10 taskbar allows users to add program or application icons and the computer’s status information. The taskbar also displays minimized programs or windows that are in use and running. However, some Windows 10 users don’t like this feature and want extra space on their screen.

How to Automatically Hide the Windows Taskbar from Settings

1. Open the Personalize option on your windows PC either by right-clicking anywhere on the desktop or from the Windows settings.

Personalize

2. Choose Taskbar from the left-hand column of the Settings window.

You can also open Taskbar settings by right-clicking on the taskbar itself.

3. Now, from the Taskbar Settings menu, turn off the option called “Automatically Hide The Taskbar In Desktop Mode” by toggling off the On radio button.

If your PC or laptop is capable of turning into a tablet mode, you can turn off the option called “Automatically Hide The Taskbar” similarly as you do on the typical desktop mode.

4. Your Windows 10 taskbar is now automatically hiding unless notification of an app pops up or you hover over the mouse to the taskbar’s position in the screen of your Windows.

How to hide taskbar windows 10 without activation

If your PC’s windows version is somehow not activated or the activation of your Windows OS is failed, then consider the below steps to hide or unhide the taskbar in Windows 10.

1. Open the Windows Registry Editor of your Windows 10 PC either from the Windows Start menu or by typing in the keyword called Regedit in the Run Dialogue Box. Note: Make sure to open the Windows Registry Editor as an administrator; else, you won’t be able to modify some Windows Registry items.

2. Move to the path:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StuckRects3

3. Make sure to take your Windows 10 Registry file’s backup before making any modifications in the Registry items. You can perform Registry backup by clicking on File -> Export and save it to your desired directory on the computer.

4. Right-click on the StuckRects3 and opt for an option called Modify the Binary Data.

5. The second line of value data rows will have a value of something like 0008 02 00 00 00 03 00 00 00… You need to replace the 02 with 03, as shown below.

Note: The value 03 in the second row is to auto-hide the taskbar, and the 02 value is to disable the taskbar’s auto-hiding.

6. To apply this change in the binary value(REG_BINARY), click the OK button and close the Windows Registry Editor.

7. Now, open your PC’s Task Manager by either pressing the Control + Alt + Del keys simultaneously or by right-clicking the taskbar of your Windows. Right-click on your explorer or windows explorer process and select the restart option.
