Fix Twitch error 4000, Resource Format Not Supported

This Twitch error is not caused by any specific reason but could be occurred due to several reasons. The most common reasons for the Twitch error 4000 are stated below.

1) Poor Internet Connection: Any interruption on the Internet while opening the Twitch website may cause this error.

2) Too many Cookies and Cache: To decrease the amount of loading time and make the experience smoother, many sites store cookies on the storage on your device. Similarly, many applications store cache to decrease the launching and loading times. But with too many cookies and caches generated over time, some of them may get defected and cause problems in various functionalities of applications and browsers.

3) Browser Incompatibility: Sometimes, your browser may not support some video format types available on the Twitch video streams.

4) Audio Feedbacks and Other Streams: If your device has some applications which provide audio feedback, they might interfere with your browser and twitch streams.

5) Autoplay settings and incompatible audio drivers: Your browser’s autoplay settings and incorrect audio and video drivers may be causing the Twitch to show some errors.

How to fix Twitch Error 4000

To solve the Twitch error 4000, you may have to try one or more solutions from the following.

1) Refresh the Twitch Stream

Sometimes while loading the Twitch stream, some browser and loading related issues can cause the Twitch error 4000. In this case, you can try refreshing your Twitch stream by either using the Refresh icon of your browser or pressing the Ctrl and R keys simultaneously.

After refreshing the Twitch stream, you may see your live stream loaded successfully.

2) Try clearing Cookies and Cache

As stated above, overly created Cookies and Cache files may hinder the loading process of the Twitch stream due to some corrupted files. So you can try clearing the cookies and cache from your browser’s settings to see if the Twitch error persists or not.

Step 1: Open the Twitch website on your Google Chrome browser and then click on the lock icon.

Step 2: Click on Cookies.

Step 3: Now remove all cookies and then click on done. Then Restart your browser.

To erase the old Cache and Cookies, follow on.

1. Click on the Menu icon of your browser.

2. Open the settings of your browser from the available menu items.

3. In the Search bar, search for Clear Browsing Data.

5. After the clearing of data is finished, restart your browser to see if the Twitch error is resolved or not.

3) Shut down other programs and applications

Some audio feedback providing applications or software might cause some interference in the Twitch video stream playback. You can try closing all the other background and foreground applications with such audio feedback before opening the Twitch streams. You may also want to close the tabs other than Twitch on your browser for a smoother Twitch experience. Most of the time, some active media players in the background can cause some problems while watching streams on the Twitch.

4) Change your browser’s Autoplay settings

Some glitch on your browser’s Autoplay feature may be causing the Twitch error 4000. You can opt for manually playing various video files rather than autoplay to solve this problem.

To disable the Autoplay feature on your browser with the example of Chrome, follow on.

1. Open a blank tab or page on the Google Chrome browser.

2. In the address bar of the Chrome, type chrome://flags/ and press enter.

3. From the Autoplay Policy section, opt for the Document User Activation is Required option.

 

 

4. After this Autoplay Policy is applied, video/audio files from the various sites will not play automatically. A manual selection of the playing will be required.

5. Open the Twitch stream and see if the error 4000 is disappeared or not.

5) Remove additional audio peripherals

Some additional audio hardware and peripherals connected to your device may cause the Twitch stream to stop loading live videos. You can try removing that external hardware like headphones or speakers before loading the Twitch stream to see if the error is removed or not.
